I know, there is not supposed to be days and days of rain in Knysna….well, here is an idea for something to do when there are days of rain.

Pop down to the industrial area (ok, go down the road that leads to and from the heads and, when you encounter traffic lights turn into the industrial area road called Vigilance Drive, then turn left into Sandpiper at the first corner, follow the road until you get to some white poles where you have to turn right. Next look out for Norman Frosts of Frost Brothers shop on the right (check out his collection of cars while you are here too !!) and turn right. Carry on into the circle where you will find…on your right hand side…weighing in at !!! Well you have just found our own local Mitchells Brewery where Dave and his crew make up a range of fine beer to delight the pallette of even the most discerning beer drinker.)

If you get there at just the right time you can take the taste tour where one of the crew will explain why you should always have at least 12 Mitchells beers in your fridge and also why beer lasts for a shorter period in warm weather , when you are thirsty. Well that is what it is for…drinking !!!…and quickly.

They will then let you taste the beer and sell you some delectable take aways (beer) and some amazing products that will remind you of your amazing time at OUR local brewery. All that and you get lots of change from a R 100.00 note…so you can buy more “take aways”.

If you are lucky you may meet up with one or two of the “Hounraay Mebemrs” who will be more than happy to sit and chat and share some more local knowledge with you on our beautiful town…or the state of the nation…or the war in Africa…or the cost of raw diamonds in Nigeria….Yes they are a great bunch to meet…hoping to see you there !!!
