What to do in Knysna – whether on holiday or not… (part 1)

Knysna is synonym with the Knysna Heads, with the Featherbed Nature Reserve, and even today to a certain extent with the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe.  That’s what our visitors know…

But what would you do, where would you go if you lived here?  What do the locals do?  How do they spend their weekends and days off?  That was one of the questions raised at our latest Coffee Group breakfast, a challenge given to all of us: to share our local knowledge with the people ‘out there’, to promote Knysna as a destination.

So where shall we start?  Let me tell you first of all: this is what we do for a living!  As co-owner of Platinum Golf Tours we organize people’s holidays.  As the name suggests we specialize in golf tours – where else in the world do you have some many outstanding courses, in weather that makes the courses playable all-year round?  But that’s besides the point, just have a look at www.platinumgolf.co.za if you’re interested in golf tours.

But with the golfers come the non-golfing partners or friends.  Or the golfers have been to Simola AND Pezula (email info@platinumgolf.co.za if you’re interested in special rates!) AND the Knysna Golf Course, and they don’t want to play for a day or two, in between.  That’s when we take them around, sight seeing.  Experiencing those places and people that usually only the locals experience….

Make sure to come back on Thursday, for more…. If you can’t wait, just send an email to info@platinumgolf.co.za and we’ll tell you in the mean timeJ.

Well I am glad to see that someone took up the challenge on the Blog…well done!

And yes it (The Blog) is open to all of the people in business in Knysna to put in their suggestions and comments, because if we can keep our visitors here and keep them entertained with good value for money events or even things that don’t cost them anything at all for some of their stay, the more likely they are to go home and sell Knysna to their friends and families. With that type of advertising working for Knysna, we can only become the top rate destination that we should be, in a very short time…and you cannot pay money to get word of mouth advertising but it earns more milage than any paid stuff.

Let us all place one suggestion on the Blog for visitors to try:

Mine is: Going for a picnic on Bollard Beach and watching the sun set over the Brenton side of the Heads. Nothing ends a day off better !!!
