Well, this week marks yet another monumental milestone in Knysna. We have had acceptance of the constitution documents for the formation of the NEW Knysna Chamber of Business…. to be known as the KCCI or Knysna Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It looks like it will be one of the most powerful business organisations ever formed in Knysna to promote and assist all businesses in Knysna a,d surrounds with buy in from Council, Tourism larger institutions like banks and investment houses, development sector manufacturing and also lots of smaller institutions.

The intended services to be offered include, an office where there will be full time staffing during business hours, a website offering all that Knysna business has to offer.

In house assistance programmes in the form of preparation of trade enquiries, aquisition of relevant tenders to business in the region. Invitation of foreign potential investors and buyers to the region to see what we have to offer. We also will have training programmes and assistance schemes to help business people to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to get ahead in business. Computer terminals, coipier and fax facilities and other business related equipment also are on the list of services to eventually be in a full business centre.

The chamber also intends to offer possible international trade opportunities for people with good to trade overseas…and there are lots of these in our region.

We will regularly invite guest speakers to events, where business people can learn various aspects of what it takes to market, promote, finance and systemise you business for success.

This is just touching the tip of the iceberg on what is being proposed, but watch this spot for information on where and when to hear more. We also would like as many of you to attend the public meeting for the inception…but again watch this space for the date sometime in August 2009.
